Job Summary:

Custodian

Performs routine cleaning and minor maintenance tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and order of County buildings. Work includes sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and restocking supplies in a variety of public facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Clean and maintain assigned areas: Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and sanitize restrooms, offices, and hallways.
• Refill supplies and restock dispensers: Replenish paper products, soap, and cleaning materials.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles: Remove waste safely and transport to designated disposal areas.
• Clean windows and glass surfaces: Wash and polish glass doors and windows for visibility and appearance.
• Assist with special cleaning projects: Perform deep cleaning and seasonal maintenance as scheduled.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely: Use vacuum cleaners, buffers, and other cleaning machinery per instructions.
• Respond to cleaning requests: Provide prompt cleanup services as needed.
• Maintain building security: Lock and unlock facilities and report any safety concerns.
• Ensure safety and hazard control: Follow OSHA and County safety protocols while handling chemicals.
• The individual in this role is expected to contribute to the team's efforts by completing other related tasks, as may be assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - The following are the minimum education and experience required for the position. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Education

• HS diploma or GED

Experience

• No previous relevant work experience is required.

Special Experience

• 1 year experience in housekeeping/custodial services, preferred

Training Requisites

• Airborne and Blood Pathogen Training, Hazardous Chemical Training

Certifications

Licensing

• Must possess a valid State Driver's license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

• May frequently be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma.
• May be required to work in confined spaces.
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
• May be exposed to biohazards or bloodborne pathogens.
