The successful candidate will have an interest in health services research. The successful candidate will be expected to meet research and teaching needs in the Department of Surgery. The Division is actively involved in clinical research aimed at quality improvement for surgical patients as well as basic science research including investigations into the impact of metabolic surgery on anxiety and drug addiction. The Division also houses a highly sought after minimally invasive surgery fellowship. In addition to our focus on patient care, we provide an environment that supports the education of health professionals and encourages advanced research to further medical science.The University of Alabama at Birmingham, one of three autonomous institutions within The University of Alabama System, is the only four-year, public university in the state’s largest metropolitan area.
