Interim Associate Manager, Email Marketing (3-month contract, $42/hour, 20 hours/week)

THE ROLE

We are seeking an Interim Associate Manager, Email Marketing to sustain and advance our digital fundraising efforts during the end of year fundraising campaign.

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the consultant will focus on email segmentation, copy writing and production in SFMC. This is a contract position (20 hours/week) expected to end on 1/4/2027.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Copywriting:

• Voice Governance: Draft compelling fundraising appeals using distinct organizational personas, including Sal Khan (Founder/CEO), the Chief External Affairs Officer, and the Community Giving Manager
• Campaign Execution: Write and edit all email copy for Oct, Nov, Dec ensuring alignment with campaign messaging, Khan Academy’s brand voice and donor stewardship goals. Support mid-level email copy writing for CG to ML upgrade campaign and other emails as necessary
• AI Optimization: Use existing AI tools to streamline the copy-editing

Email & Donation Pages production:

• Building robust campaigns: Create email journeys and one-off emails that require advanced segmentation and personalization for both Community Giving and Mid Level
  • Managing detailed and complex email data extensions (lists) in collaboration with Senior Manager of Community Giving, Manager of Mid Level Giving and email experts in marketing
  • Ensuring QA and accuracy of all emails
• AI Optimization: Use existing AI tools to streamline email production
• Creative Direction: Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Community Giving and Manager of Mid Level Giving and the design team to ensure visual assets align with the strategic narrative for the EOY season

Collaboration:

• EOY fundraising: Collaborate with colleagues across fundraising as part of the EOY fundraising campaign, including participating in meetings as necessary, responding to questions/requests in slack during business hours (flexible on time zones)

WHAT YOU BRING

• 3+ years of experience in digital fundraising or similar mass marketing effort
• Experience using AI for copy writing and ability to pivot between different executive voices and write high-converting, empathetic copy
• Experience in audience segmentation and A/B testing methodologies and building emails in email service providers (preferably in SFMC)
• Experience working with fundraising and marketing design and paid media teams to create a cohesive multi-channel experience
• Ability to effectively and efficiently manage email production and campaigns across functions including setting timelines, ensure work gets down on time, flagging potential issues or blockers
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written), as well as an eye for detail
• Excellent time management skills
