Animal Care Specialist Humane Society of North Texas Fort Worth, Texas, United States About this position About Humane Society of North Texas Founded in 1905, the Humane Society of North Texas is the oldest animal welfare organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. HSNT serves animals in need by providing services such as pet adoptions, spay/neuter surgeries and low-cost vaccinations, returning lost pets to their owners, cruelty investigations and humane euthanasia. We operate two pet adoption centers in Tarrant County as well as PetSmart and PetCo Cat Adoption Centers and an equine ranch located in Johnson County. What you'll do Care for, feed, and monitor animals in the shelter Report observed health or behavior issues to department Assistant Manager/Manager Clean assigned areas daily in compliance with standard operating procedures Provide information to the public about Humane Society of North Texas programs and promote good animal care and responsible pet ownership Keep current inventory Maintain assigned equipment, supplies and vehicles in safe condition and report any problems or needed repairs to the department Assistant Manager/Manager Represent the Humane Society of North Texas by providing excellent customer service Protect the confidential information on customers and donors Walk dogs daily in all weather conditions Ability to deal with fractious animals Work with dogs on training, such as leash training and behavioral training based on recommendations from the behaviorist and trainers Additional tasks assigned by department Assistant Manager/Manager Ability to meet physical demands Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Experience with animals Ability to read, write and communicate effectively Knowledge and ability to accurately work with detailed information on paper and computerized format Ability to work under stressful circumstances Working knowledge of breeds, diseases, medical conditions, and animal handling and behavior Self-motivated, works effectively under pressure and has the ability to multi-task Works collaboratively with all departments within the organization Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures Ability to represent the Humane Society of North Texas in a professional manner Must be able to deal with fractious animals Will be subject to exposure of animal odors, extreme levels of ammonia, diseases, possible contagious conditions, bites, scratches, animal waste and moderate noise levels Must support the mission and values of HSNT Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions This position is regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch The position holder must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without assistance, up to 80 pounds with assistance While performing the duties of this job this position may be exposed to animal odors or airborne particles The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate The pay range for this role is: 14.50 - 14.50 USD per hour(HSNT) #J-18808-Ljbffr
