Job Summary The Division of HPI in the Department of Population Medicine (DPM) at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute is the home of several large, complex, multi-institutional research initiatives using real-world data (RWD) and distributed analytic approaches to support major national public health activities in collaboration with federal and industry funders. Its mission is to improve health care delivery and population health through research and education, in partnership with health plans, delivery systems, and public health agencies. The Research Fellow will perform and manage research projects from their initial development through publication finds in medical journals. They will also be working day-to-day with other faculty members, research scientists, and staff at the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. Additionally, the Research Fellow will have an opportunity to participate in other activities, including grant preparation activities (e.g., writing research plans, supporting budget preparation, and submitting IRB applications) and journal review and editorial activities. Job Description DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES – what you will be doing: Design research study and protocols, including creating detailed timelines, meeting with faculty and staff collaborators, planning for technical and data support, and creating survey instruments. Prepare proposal for obtaining research funding & Sponsored Program Application including compiling documentary material for human studies review. Provide day-to-day management for research projects, including overseeing the activities of research assistants, data collection, developing plans, conducting data analysis. Manage database design and development. Prepare manuscripts detailing research findings and submit findings to peer-reviewed medical journals. Perform out-of-the-box thinking, collaborate with others, and make a difference every day! Other duties and projects as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS – what you need to perform the job: Doctoral degree, such as an MD, PharmD, or PhD. Introductory knowledge of scientific research methods and biostatistics. Ability to learn techniques for analyzing complex data. Sound knowledge of computer systems, including word processing and spreadsheet software. Resilient, collaborative, flexible, innovative. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required. Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations. May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule. Salary Range $60,629.42 -$90,944.12 Compensation & Total Rewards Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position represents a range of salaries for this role and similar roles across the organization. The actual salary for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope and complexity of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; as well as internal equity. As part of our comprehensive total rewards program, colleagues are also eligible for variable pay.
