Assistant Dietary Manager

The Assistant Dietary Manager partners with the manager to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall production of the Dietary Department in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The manager ensures that quality nutritional services are provided daily and maintains the department in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating food production related to the food deliveries by following established menus. Assist in ordering food and in proper storage of items according to FIFO, while maintaining the food budget. Inspect food storage rooms and utility/janitorial closets for upkeep and control. Participate in maintaining records of residents’ food preferences. Review departmental policies and procedures for sanitation, equipment maintenance, work areas, and food preparation, ensuring cleanliness. Assist in implementing diet changes and issuing new diet tickets as directed by nursing staff. Participate in facility surveys. Understand responsibilities of all positions in the dietary department and be available on call when needed; fill in for the manager during vacations or for facility meetings involving dietary. Assist with rounds in dining rooms during any meal as required. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess, at minimum, a high school diploma. Must possess Serve Safe Sanitation certification (8‑hour class). Must have at least one year of experience in a hospital or nursing care facility. Must be willing to obtain Certified Food Manager certification within the first year of employment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
