Duties

Help

• Oversees development and maintenance of physical security SOPs and ensures compliance across all departments and tenant activities.
• Manage key and lock control programs and processes waiver or exception requests as required.
• Evaluate position sensitivity requirements to minimize positions requiring access to classified or sensitive information.
• Maintain awareness of current security and intelligence information received conducting analysis to support threat awareness and assessment.
• Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
• Explain performance expectations to employees and provides regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
• Serve as the primary advisor on physical security equipment, including intrusion detection systems, access control systems, and surveillance systems.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
• Position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification within their first two years of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in advising or implementing physical security protection policies or procedures and conducting security inspections and assisting in developing or coordinating physical security programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Physical Security, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice and Security Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
