Job Summary:
Performs QA/QC inspections of building systems, which could include Electrical, Mechanical, Fire & Life Safety, and/or Structural components to ensure quality standards and engineering specifications. The building types and building equipment could include commercial, residential, and/or industrial. May also perform various building assessment-type projects. Each inspection program may include client specific protocols as outlined by leadership team. This position requires extensive travel to client project sites.
CORE Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct on-site inspections building systems, structural integrity, and safety compliance.
2. Collect and document data using web-based programs, tablets, or other electronic tools.
3. Review and analyze construction plans, specifications, and maintenance records for compliance with applicable standards.
4. Identify deficiencies, hazards, or non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions.
5. Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including photographs and supporting documentation.
6. Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, ASME).
7. Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and relevant stakeholders.
8. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other inspectors to maintain inspection consistency and quality control.
9. Stay updated on evolving building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
10. Maintain project-by-project communication with senior management and insure continued flow of information regarding any issues or potential problems which may occur during a site deployment.
11. Meets or exceeds performance objectives for productivity and report quality.
12. Protects operations by keeping company information confidential.
13. Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs.
14. Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals.
15. Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV’s quality standards and strategic initiatives.
16. Maintains safe and clean work area/spaces by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
17. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
18. May be required to work overtime with prior authorization from supervisor and/or Program Management.
Division / Role Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Military/DOD Housing Inspections:
1. Conducts housing inspections of military structures using established protocols/guidelines provided by the military or relevant authorities.
2. Verify homes on military bases comply with safety regulations and standards, identifying / reporting any safety hazards promptly.
3. Uses tablet for live data collection into web-based program to report on the condition of the property (including interior and exterior elements, structural components, plumbing, electrical systems, overall safety features).
4. Uses tablet to provide photographic documentation to visually document the condition of each housing unit. Include images of any identified issues to support the inspection report.
5. Ensures adherence to standardized checklists and inspection procedures provided by the military base or relevant authorities.
6. Identifies and collects information on mechanical equipment for multiple property types, single-family homes, multiplex homes, townhouses, row houses, multifamily apartment complexes and barracks, and generates report on the condition and/or deficiencies.
7. Conducts interviews with the on-site representative and/or individuals knowledgeable about the subject property as applicable.

Education, Certifications, and Experience
Education :
High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required with some college preferred
Experience :
• Minimum of 3 years related experience.
• For Mechanical Inspectors:
• Welding/pressure vessel inspection knowledge preferred.
• NDT knowledge or certification is a plus.
• For FLS Inspectors:
• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Safety Management, or a related field (preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of fire codes, standards, and regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with inspection software and reporting tools.
Certifications and other requirements:
• Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record).
• Employees who incur $2,000 or more per year in company-related travel expenses will be required to obtain a Corporate Credit Card. Employees who incur less than $2,000 per year in company-related travel expenses will be required to have sufficient personal credit to cover their business travel costs.
• For Military Inspectors:
• InterNACHI certification required. Employment opportunity is contingent upon obtaining the InterNACHI certification (Interim and Full CPIs). Within the first week of employment, you must pass the InterNACHI Interim Certification and obtain the InterNACHI Interim certification.
• Fully InterNACHI Certified. Complete 90 hours of CEU's in the first 12 months. No later than 12 months after joining the program, attain the Full Certified Property Inspector designation through InterNACHI.

• Climb and balance various types of ladders to access flat roofs/hatch access (at least once for each building assessed.)
• Repetitive use of hands/fingers for keyboard interaction (frequently.)
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Talk and hear (communicate with onsite contact.)
• Vision (close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.)
• Lift and or move (occasionally up to 40 pounds.)
• Operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection.
• Operate a computer (up to 100% of workweek.)
• Safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers.
• Ability to successfully work from remote location.
• Travel by Plane, Motor Vehicle, Train to client sites across the U.S.
• Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical components and assemblies, frequently exposed to work near energized electrical components and assemblies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, inclement weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level at the project site is usually moderate.
While performing the office/offsite duties of this job:

Travel Requirements
• Travel by Plane, Motor Vehicle, Train (75 - 90% of time) to client/project sites across the U.S. required.
• Employees in this role should expect frequent travel.
• Onsite visits can occur for up to three continuous weeks at a time.
• Travel and onsite work are anticipated and expected.
• Overnight stays away from home will be required for at least a week will be required for each week deployed to an onsite.
