Job TitleResponsible for production of complex products from raw ingredients according to standardized recipes. Use of complex/large volume-equipment (kettles, ovens, steamers). Responsible for recipe development and quality control. Knowledge and application of HACCP principles in the safe preparation of food for patients, retail customers and special events. Able to identify ingredients/finished products that do not meet established quality standards. Attentive to details of special/restricted diets. Maintain safety and sanitation standards of the work area.Essential Functions• Produces simple to complex food products from raw ingredients according to standardized recipes using commercial cooking equipment.• Ensures compliance to modified and restricted diets for patients.• Ensures high quality food products by monitoring ingredients and finished product to meet established quality standards and portion control prior to service for patients or retail customers.• Identifies and communicates opportunities for waste reduction, service improvements, and revenue enhancement.• Maintains, cleans, and sanitizes equipment and work area according to established standards for safety and sanitation. Collects and disposes of trash in work area.• Applies principles of safe food handling during storage, assembly, production, and service. Records food and equipment temperatures as required. Properly labels and dates products. Monitors expiration dates and disposes of outdated product.• Communicates effectively within department and with all hospital departments, patients, and staff.• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.• Performs other duties as assigned.Range of Pay• Between $18.62 and $22.82, based on experience.QualificationsRequired• Must be able to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively in English.• 1 year of relevant experience in food service production.• Ability to function in a physically demanding fast paced environment with exposure to temperature extremes.• Knowledge of or willingness to learn proper lifting techniques and safety precautions.• Knowledge of or willingness to learn proper use and storage of potentially hazardous cleaning products.• Strong customer service focus.• Must be able to prioritize and multi-task and stay focused in a busy environment.• Must be at least 18 years of age to work with power equipment, required by law.Preferred• High School Diploma.• CRT-ServSafe Handler – NRA (National Restaurant Association).• Experience with therapeutic diets.About Corewell HealthAs a team member at Corewell Health, you will play an essential role in delivering personalized health care to our patients, members, and our communities.
