Job Description

RDR Enterprise LLC is seeking a Lead Automation Technician to oversee hands-on automation support and drive reliable, efficient operations for the Automation department. This is a travel position: technicians are typically scheduled for 15-19 days of work at a time, and home for 5-7 days.

Position Summary

The Lead Automation Technician serves as the technical leader for automation systems, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvements. This role combines strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to guide day-to-day execution and ensure equipment performance meets operational needs.

You will coordinate with internal and external teams to diagnose issues, perform maintenance activities, and support upgrades that improve uptime, safety, and productivity. With a focus on reliable results, you’ll help set the standard for quality and responsiveness in automation-related work.

Key Responsibilities

Lead troubleshooting and installation of automation-related equipment to restore service and minimize downtime.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing to support consistent system performance.
Support the installation, modification, and upgrade of automation components and systems as needed.
Provide technical guidance to team members and help coordinate task execution for maintenance and repair activities.
Document maintenance work, findings, and recommendations to support ongoing reliability and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining automation and industrial equipment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose root causes effectively.
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation related to equipment and automation systems.
Commitment to safety practices and the ability to work in an onsite industrial environment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks to support operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading maintenance activities or acting as a technical lead for automation systems.
Familiarity with automation controls and industrial instrumentation used in production or facility environments.
Proven track record of improving reliability through preventive maintenance and process refinement.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Compensation

Annual salary: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00
