Production Supervisor

Messer, the world’s largest privately held industrial gases company, looks for an experienced Plant Operations Manager to oversee site compliance, safety, and efficient plant operations. The candidate will manage safety programs, maintenance schedules, staff, budgets, and customer relationships while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Safety and Regulatory Manage site compliance and serve as Safety, Health, Environmental, and Emergency Coordinator. Act as QC Designee, Document Manager, and Corrective & Preventative Action administrator. Ensure changes to equipment or procedures follow EMOC procedure. Enforce HWP, LOTO, and energy isolation processes. Oversee waste management and hazardous material storage per government regulation. Conduct internal and external audits, document corrective actions, and maintain audit records. Maintain site security, orderliness, and the Site Contingency Plan. Plan and coordinate major and minor plant maintenance, including contractor oversight. Review equipment condition monitoring, ensure spare parts availability, and keep inventories accurate. Oversee planned and unplanned maintenance activities, and manage turnaround scopes with scheduling and sales teams. Maintain the Shutdown and Turnaround work list and schedule. Optimize downtime usage for process operation and efficiency. Process Operation and Efficiency Ensure reliable plant operations and execute the production plan. Manage bulk liquid storage inventory. Enforce adherence to work instructions. Escalate process issues to higher levels as needed. Maintain compliance with corporate standards and best practices. Collaborate with support groups to improve reliability and reduce costs. Administrative and Managerial (Staff) Manage payroll, personnel issues, hiring, and training programs. Develop staff capabilities, foster teamwork, and motivate staff. Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate training. Provide accurate invoicing information to customers. Serve on-call duty as required. Administrative and Managerial (Customer) Meet Quality Control and Health Canada requirements for product quality. Manage customer complaint process and key performance indicators. Support the Plant Manager in managing customer relationships. Promote a customer‑focused culture among staff. Handle customer reporting and provide technical support to sales representatives. Administrative and Managerial (Fiscal) Assist in budgeting and controlling variable costs. Perform benefit analysis for decisions. Meet or exceed performance indicators.Carry out other duties as assigned. Required Skills Math: basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unit conversion. Computer proficiency: Internet, word processing, spreadsheets, and company software. Knowledge of Messer Management Processes. Strong organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Project and change management aptitude. Crisis management skills, including damage control and trade‑offs. Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities. Strong mechanical aptitude. Ability to interpret engineering and electrical drawings, P&IDs, and one‑line diagrams. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or Technical College Degree (or equivalent) in a technical discipline. Minimum 5 years of industrial, plant operations, or maintenance experience.
