Job Title: Assistant Dean of Accreditation, CQI and Special Projects Department: Medicine | Biomedical Education and Anatomy-Administration Position Overview The assistant dean of accreditation, CQI and special projects will provide leadership for the programmatic review and strategic plan for the medical education program at OSUCOM. As a member of the senior leader medical education team, the assistant dean will report to the Vice Dean of Education and will provide leadership within the medical school to ensure LCME accreditation standards are monitored for compliance, working collaboratively with other leaders through the college and the evaluation and assessment team to ensure a thorough systematic program evaluation and a comprehensive medical student assessment plan. The assistant dean will also participate in institutional accreditation as appropriate. Responsibilities Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of accreditation processes to ensure compliance with accreditation standards for the undergraduate medical education (UME) program. Facilitate UME self‑studies for accreditation purposes; prepare annual profiles and other reports as requested by UME accrediting agency. Perform accreditation gap analysis and assist leadership in developing CQI action plans. Work collaboratively with leadership to ensure that all aspects of evaluation, including planning, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, meet LCME and Institutional Accreditation needs. Oversee continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes for the MD program, ensuring evaluation methods measure program outcomes and monitor CQI in compliance with LCME standards. Collaborate with stakeholders in managing course/clerkship reviews and phase/whole curriculum reviews. Ensure committees have clear and standardized charges and procedures. Develop and maintain operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives, including regular policy review cycles. Engage with students and work with leadership to implement and communicate improvement processes. Collaborate with data analytics and information technology to ensure quality and efficiency of evaluation processes necessary for accreditation. Integrate accreditation requirements into ongoing institutional operations and procedures, including budgeting. Provide project management and presentation preparation for special projects related to the education mission as determined by the Vice Dean. Oversee implementation of and CQI follow‑up in strategic planning for units under the Vice Dean of Education. Prepare or participate in the preparation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material for Medical Education Research Projects. Serve on relevant committees as needed. Develop and maintain a budget and monitor expenditures related to accreditation and CQI. Perform other duties as assigned. Communication and Influence Influence others outside the department regarding policies, practices, and procedures and within the function of the role. Communicate and conduct briefings with senior or executive leadership regarding ongoing operations and strategic initiatives. Knowledge and Experience Broad knowledge of leading and managing processes, projects, and tactics. Expert knowledge in a specific discipline and understanding the impact of work on own and other departments within a function. Leadership and Talent Management Primarily lead supervisors and/or experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in assignments; may have matrixed responsibilities for both direct and indirect reports. Organizational Impact Establish operational, functional, and/or business plans with mid‑to‑long‑term impact on function results (e.g., 3 to 5 years); typically holds budget accountability for the area of responsibility. Education and Experience Requirements Medical school accreditation experience required. PhD, EdD, or equivalent desired.
