Job Title: Night Shift Structural Welder
Job Description
This role focuses on structural welding in a production shop environment on a steady, well-planned workload. You will perform MIG and flux core welding in multiple positions, work from clean and accurate blueprints, and contribute to the fabrication of structural components during the second shift, Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., with a shift differential added to base pay.
Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding using MIG and flux core processes on carbon steel, including 3G (vertical), horizontal, and overhead positions.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan layouts and welding procedures accurately.
• Take and verify measurements using tape measures, calipers, rulers, and other measuring tools to ensure precise fit-up.
• Determine appropriate welding equipment settings and methods based on job requirements, including selecting and setting amperage and voltage on welding machines.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
• Align, clamp, and secure components prior to welding to maintain correct dimensions and structural integrity.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare, clean, and finish parts and welds, including grinding welds to specified quality standards.
• Perform welding using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions, ensuring sound welds and consistent quality.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify and correct flaws or defects.
• Maintain welding and fabrication equipment in safe working condition and report any issues promptly.
• Work collaboratively within a structural welding shop located on a multi-building campus to meet production and quality targets.
• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe and organized shop environment.

Essential Skills

• Ability to weld proficiently with MIG and flux core processes.
• Capability to weld in 3G (vertical) position, as well as horizontal and overhead positions.
• At least 8 months of welding experience in a structural welding shop.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and structural drawings.
• Ability to read and use tape measures and other measuring tools accurately.
• Knowledge and ability to set amperage and voltage on welding machines for various applications.
• Experience grinding welds and preparing materials using angle grinders.
• Ability to determine appropriate welding equipment and methods based on job requirements.
• Skill in setting up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting materials with powered saws.
• Ability to align and clamp components using calipers, rulers, and other tools to ensure proper fit-up.
• Experience welding with manual or semi-automatic equipment in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
• Capability to test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws.
• Commitment to maintaining equipment in safe operating condition and following safety procedures.
• Availability to work second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Structural fitting experience is preferred and valued.
• Experience as a structural fitter or welder/fitter, especially with 2 or more years in structural welding and fitting, is a plus.
• Experience in industrial fabrication, structural fabrication, or production environments.
• Comfort working in a structural welding shop that focuses on code work and clean, accurate prints.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.

Work Environment
You will work in a structural welding shop located on a multi-building campus. The facility is non-climate-controlled, so temperatures will reflect seasonal conditions. The role is on second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., with a shift differential added to base pay. The environment is production-oriented, focusing on structural code work with clean and accurate prints. You will regularly use welding machines, powered saws, angle grinders, and standard measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and rulers. Safety is a priority, supported by a structured safety program and established shop practices.

This is a Contract position based out of Tulsa, OK.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
