Patient Identity Project Specialist

This position reports to the Patient Identity Optimization Manager on the CVS Health Identity and Data Integrity Team and is responsible for taking ownership of MPI improvement projects, analyzing, and documenting research, reporting out and maintaining the accuracy and consistency of patient data within the Epic MPI for CVS Healthcare. You will work to facilitate the reduction/elimination of MPI duplicates through identification of root cause analysis and suggesting possible solutions to increase data integrity. This position includes special projects including database clean-ups associated with bad characters, patient aliases, erroneous information, unsupported changes by other Teams, monitoring Test patient creation and weekly reporting. In addition, this role will support Data Integrity Team members in daily production support clean-up efforts, working in WQs as needed.

As a Patient Identity Project Specialist, You Will:

• Adhere to the established CVS Healthcare Performance Expectations in the areas of Heart At Work Behaviors, Performance Improvement, and Shared Values & Culture.
• Work on key project initiatives for optimizing our use of Epic and other software interfaces.
• Support Data Integrity Team members with Merges, Unmerges, Contact Moves, Overlays, Customer Support Tickets, Chart Correction Cases and Help Desk tickets as needed after training on detailed research required to perform each function.
• Document research and summary notes and in shared location for access.
• Open, document and track Sherlock Tickets for Epic issues.
• Attend and maintain detailed notes in shared location for all issues on Epic support bi-weekly calls.
• Schedule and attend meetings with appropriate Clinical/IT/Billing/Epic teams related to project support.
• Analyze large sets of data to identify trends and targets aligned with Patient Safety Initiatives.
• Provide for ongoing data integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient Index using established mechanisms to identify, investigate, resolve, and prevent duplicate medical record numbers and patient overlays assuring that for each patient there is one record with the correct identifying information to support patient care and patient safety.
• Notify Legal/Risk on discovery of any patient safety, HIPAA breech, or patient complaint scenarios to include documentation of approved documentation of corrective steps.
• Assist as needed with the identification, development, and validation of training curriculum as it pertains to ongoing MPI cleanup activities.
• Write up build specification requests for Epic Build Team.
• Create power point documents for presenting projects to clinical leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Bachelor level college degree in Business, Computer Science or Healthcare preferred. Associate degree or High School Diploma with HIM/Identity work experience in healthcare acceptable.

Experience:

• Project Lead experience
• Understanding of medical terminology
• Experience working with various hospital information systems, such as EPIC, Cerner, MEDITECH, etc. with emphasis on project and build support.
• Experience with electronic HIM workflows and strong familiarity with electronic medical record content.
• Use of problem-solving skills to determine appropriate solutions and necessary merges to protect the integrity of the MPI.

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

• Certification in Epic Identity/HIM or Health Information Management (RHIA or RHIT) is preferred, but not required.

Language:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English language
