This position oversees all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, cash management, compliance, and revenue cycle activities. The Director of Finance partners with organizational leadership to ensure sound financial stewardship, maximize revenue collection, and support the organization's mission through effective financial planning and analysis.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Financial Management:Supervise accounting and medical billing personnelFollow and ensure compliance with all relevant Generally Accepted Accounting Policies (GAAP) and other technical accounting updates and interpretationsMaintain a documented system of accounting policies and proceduresOversight of the accounting department, including the design and implementation of processes adequate for achieving the company's financial goals and objectivesDevelop, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting and billing systems for the agency, including all current and future programs.Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet the operating needs of the agencySupervise accounting and medical billing personnel, including hiring, firing, staff development, and staff supportManage the development of the annual budget with the Executive team for approval by the CEO and Board of TrusteesSupervise the maintenance and/or preparation of all cash books, ledgers, and general journalsSupervise accounts payables and accounts receivable recordsOversee the preparation of monthly bank reconciliationsIdentify account classification for general ledger entriesPrepare audit schedules, financial statements, and footnotes for the year-end financial statement auditProvide support to auditors during the annual auditPrepare schedules as needed for the annual financial audit and preparation of Form 990Prepare Board of Trustees and Finance committee reports as neededMedical Billing Department:Develop strategic plans and provide oversight of the Medical Billing team and ensure that goals and objectives of the team are properly defined and clearly establishedTrack important Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to monitor operational efficiency in accordance with industry best practices.Government Grant Reporting:Work with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) to accurately manage contract reportingComplete annual Mental Health, Early Childhood Intervention, and Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (MEI) cost reportEnsure timely quarterly and annual Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) financial reportsCoordinate the provision of information to state auditors for periodic auditsWork with the program management staff to prepare annual ECI budgetPrepare monthly Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) state voucherMaintain local, state, and federal financial recordsAdditional Technical Skills, Traits and Knowledge:High energy and passion for The Warren Center's mission is essentialAbility to maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentialityClear and concise communication skillsStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsProblem solving and analytical skills - ability to strategically interpret data and resolve issues as they ariseStrong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detailAdvanced knowledge of QuickBooks OnlineAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office365: including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and TeamsEducation and Experience:Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, or Business with an emphasis in accountingPreferred: Master's degree in business administrationPreferred: Certified Public Accountant certificationRequired: 5+ years of accounting experiencePreferred: Nonprofit accounting experience and government contract management experiencePreferred: Working knowledge of medical billingEnvironment:Moderate to high-stress levelLong periods of sittingThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderateEqual Opportunity Employer:The Warren Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we believe in an inclusive culture for all.
