Food Server10 month, 3 hrs/day Salary Range: $15.03/hr - $17.93/hr (additional COLA increase pending Board approval)Job Goal: To assist the Food Service Head Cook and Assistant Cook in food preparation, including cooking, serving, and clean-up.Distinguishing Characteristics: Positions assigned to the Food Service Server classification are distinguished from the Assistant Cook by nature of the work performed. Food preparation is typified by tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, smoothies, may cook non-complex foods such as pizza, burgers, corn dogs and burritos. Experience in institutional food service not required.Essential Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalent18 years of age or olderFood service experience preferredAbility to prepare food (such as salads), work with portion control, and handle moneyAbility to operate industrial dishwashers, mixers, ovens, other related school kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensilsAbility to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staffAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracyAbility to maintain confidentialityEssential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):Assemble meals and ala carte servings, such as sandwiches, salads, and fruit dishes.Cut prepared foods and vegetables to appropriate portions.Cook prepared foods such as pizza, corn dogs, burritos, and bagels.Prepare and maintain salad bar.Set up and prepare serving areas, clean and sanitize kitchen and eating area.Wash, sanitize and store dishes, utensils and cooking equipment.Portion and serve food to students and staff in accordance with health and sanitation regulations.Load, unload, and store food and cleaning supplies to maintain acceptable inventory levels.Maintain appropriate certificates and training hours.Ability to perform cashier duties with accuracy.Act as a friendly ambassador for the North Bend School District.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding and/or Testing Required:Must possess a valid Food Handler's Certificate (OAR 333.175.000)Criminal Justice Fingerprint ClearanceValid Oregon Driver's LicensePre-employment drug screen (THC screening included)Safe Schools training as requiredPhysical Demands:Moderate degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbsFrequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting, and prolonged periods of standingExposure to noise, heat, cold, hot and cold surfaces, sharp and moving equipmentRequires coordination and dexterity to prepare foodsAbility to move freely around the kitchen and storage areas to perform food preparation and food serving dutiesEqual employment opportunity and treatment shall be practiced by the North Bend School District regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, marital status, pregnancy, childbirth or a related medical condition, age, veterans' status, service in uniformed service, familial status, genetic information, an individual's juvenile record that has been expunged, and disability if the employee, with or without reasonable accommodation, is able to perform the essential functions of the position.
