Medical Laboratory Scientist

Allied Health Professional Onsite Local Contract Starts 11/09/2026 Job Description 8 hours/day 5 days/week Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist Location: Shelton, CT Duration: 2+ months (Potential temp to hire) Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm This role is in the flow cytometry department and requires flow experience. Job Responsibilities Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens. Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures. Review and release test results. Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines. Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree required, degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry strongly preferred Transcripts will be requested for review throughout consideration process Work Experience: 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred Experience with LC-MS or ICP-MS strongly preferred Physical and Mental Requirements The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance. Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time. Frequent walking and/or standing. May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
