Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years of Med Surg Experience Required License: Current and Valid State License Required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be comfortable floating frequently across different units. Travelers must have step-down/PCU experience. Facility will not accept any license or background hits. Description: This role is primarily a Med Surg position. The nurse will frequently float to PCU/Step Down and other Med Surg/Telemetry units. Must be comfortable doing both Med Surg and Step Down nursing. Patient ratios are as follows: 1:4-5 in Step Down and 1:5-6 in Med Surg. Pediatric experience is not required. Travelers without pediatric experience will not see pediatric patients. This facility has a high patient-to-nurse ratio and requires floating. All travelers should expect to work some weekends and holidays as needed. The candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary support team, including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services. Common patient diagnoses include stroke, renal failure, atrial fibrillation, and other medical conditions. Special procedures include management of chest tubes, CVA, and hemodialysis. Experience in accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, and telemetry monitoring is preferred. Floating within the hospital is required, with appropriate orientation to new units provided. Modules and training may be completed prior to starting the position and will be self-reported.
