Assistant Or Associate Professor, Clinical Trials Research, Brain Health

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant or Associate Professor (Tenure Track) on a 12-month appointment. This physician-scientist position is focused on clinical trials research in neurodegenerative diseases, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The successful candidate must hold an MD (or equivalent) degree and have the ability to practice medicine in the State of Nevada, including maintaining active medical licensure and malpractice insurance coverage. The position also provides a minimum.2 FTE for clinical activities, including attending duties in clinics at UNLV Health within the appropriate clinical space. The primary responsibility of this position is to design, conduct, and oversee clinical trials and translational research within the Department of Brain Health. The successful applicant will work closely with industry-sponsored clinical trial organizations to conduct biomarker, diagnostic, and therapeutic clinical trials in central nervous system diseases.

The Department of Brain Health is primarily focused on neurodegenerative disease research that spans from investigations of progress and process in clinical trials, health disparities in neurodegenerative diseases, identification and the examination of biomarkers of disease, and preclinical investigations of mechanisms driving disease and novel treatments in Alzheimer's disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Stroke.

This position requires a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an LCME- or COCA-accredited institution. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Nevada and must obtain licensure prior to the start of employment. Board certification or board eligibility in a relevant specialty (e.g., Neurology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, or a related field) is required. Experience conducting or overseeing clinical trials, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases, is required. Experience with industry-sponsored clinical trials and familiarity with FDA regulatory processes is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be eligible for malpractice insurance coverage through UNLV Health or an equivalent institutional mechanism from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Post-doctoral experience is preferred.
