Come explore Novanta.SummaryThe Buyer II is responsible for executing procurement activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials in support of manufacturing operations. This role manages purchase orders, supplier relationships, and inventory levels to align with production demand, while driving on-time delivery, quality, and cost performance. The Buyer II supports continuous improvement through data analysis, effective planning, and cross-functional collaboration.Business OverviewPositioning Solutions is a product line within Novanta’s Precision Medicine business unit. It designs and manufactures high-precision motion and positioning components used in advanced medical and life sciences equipment. The team partners closely with customers to deliver highly accurate and reliable solutions for critical applications. The Buyer II supports this mission by ensuring materials are sourced and managed to meet production requirements, customer expectations, and business objectives.Primary ResponsibilitiesExecute sourcing and procurement of materials, components, and services aligned to production needsManage purchase orders, including creation, tracking, expediting, and issue resolutionPlan and schedule material procurement to maintain inventory at target levelsMonitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and responsivenessMaintain accurate purchasing and inventory records within ERP systemsCollaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Quality to support production and new product introductionsAnalyze procurement data to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunitiesSupport continuous improvement of procurement processes to enhance efficiency and reliabilityRequired Experience, Education, Skills, Training and CompetenciesExperience & KnowledgeExperience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of sourcing strategies, supplier management, and inventory controlFamiliarity with ERP systems and procurement workflowsSkills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective negotiation and supplier management capabilitiesAbility to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a dynamic environmentStrong collaboration skills across cross-functional teamsHigh attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing business needsPhysical RequirementsAbility to work in both office and manufacturing environmentsOccasional movement between production and operational areasTravel RequirementsMinimal travel; occasional supplier or cross-site support as neededCompensation and BenefitsThe base pay for this position is $56,000 to 90,000 per year depending on the geographic market.This position provides an opportunity for competitive quarterly sales compensation based on an achievement to plan.Novanta supports all aspects of your life's needs.
