For more information about Draper, visit Description Summary:We are seeking an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer to join the Embedded Electronics group. As a member of the technical staff, the candidate will play a critical role in the development of next generation processing, computing and sensor/actuator hardware within the electronics division.Members of the Embedded Electronics group support a variety of multi-disciplinary programs lasting an average of 12 to 18 months each. In addition to working on sponsored programs, group members are also encouraged to develop and participate in internally funded research and development programs.In addition, an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer develops, tests, and oversees the manufacturing of electrical printed circuit boards (PCBs), analog and digital circuits, electronic equipment, sensors, motors, radar and navigation systems. This engineer develops the architecture, designs circuit, performs simulations, performs physical layout, verifies and tests designs. Performs a variety of engineering activities throughout the life cycle to support planning, design, test, deployment, and sustainment.The Tailored Systems Business Area within Electronics Program Office directorate delivers first-of-a-kind field-ready microelectronics solutions in support of National Security missions. This role will support a large multi-disciplinary team as part of a long-standing, fast-paced contract with history of immense success. The Draper team is chartered with supporting the Nation’s most challenging problems by:1) providing an iterative and agile approach to innovative and creative technical solutions delivered at the speed of mission2) driving leading edge technology development efforts to support future mission needs.Apply to be part of this incredibly talented and dedicated Draper team!Onsite work is required for this position.Job Description:Duties/ResponsibilitiesTranslate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures working with cross-functional teams.Design and/or complete instruments including microprocessors, power, and analog components.Innovatively solve issues, drive completion of the project to schedule, and collaboratively work with other technical contributors.Build and test prototypes, debug, and prepare documentation for manufacturing, and support.Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.Engage other engineers and partners to develop reliable, cost effective and solutions for products.Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.Independently executes assignments with minimal oversight.Able to apply technical knowledge to solve problems.Contribute high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicate them to project leadership.Performs other duties as assigned.Skills/AbilitiesProficiency in electronic design, microprocessor or embedded computing.Understanding of design and general computer architecture.Ability to write detailed design specifications.Computer programming and coding abilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent mathematical skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to prioritize tasks.Thorough understanding of engineering theories and procedures.EducationBachelor's degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or related field. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement's approved rates by location and role.
