Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) - Emergency RN
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to lead and support the delivery of exceptional nursing care within an emergency department setting. This role requires a dedicated leader who can foster a safe, high-quality environment while ensuring regulatory compliance and staff development. The ANM will serve as a mentor, resource, and advocate for both patients and nursing staff, collaborating closely with leadership to optimize unit operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and infection-controlled work environment.
- Engage with patients and families to uphold service excellence and address concerns promptly.
- Communicate effectively and professionally, resolving conflicts as they arise.
- Participate in policy development and promote evidence-based nursing practices.
- Ensure accountability for quality, operational, financial, and regulatory goals within the unit.
- Advocate for patients and coordinate care across healthcare disciplines.
- Collaborate with departments to improve workflow and patient throughput.
- Assist in recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing personnel.
- Plan and manage staffing schedules, ensuring appropriate personnel utilization based on competencies and patient needs.
- Lead or participate in quality improvement projects and attend relevant committees.
- Evaluate staff performance, provide coaching, and conduct appraisals.
- Contribute to budget development and monitor productivity standards.
- Promote a healthy work environment that minimizes illness and injury.
- Commit to ongoing professional growth and development.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of registered nursing experience, including at least two years in acute care or a similar setting.
- At least one year of recent charge nurse or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of nursing scope of practice, nursing process, and individualized care planning.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to find resources and solutions.
- Competent in assessing nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
- Proficient with computer systems and adaptable to new software.
- Capable of providing direct patient care.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with seven years of relevant RN experience may be considered.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse license in California or equivalent regional licensure.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- National certification in specialty area preferred.
- Additional certifications required depending on unit assignment, such as ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Scale, ONS chemotherapy & biotherapy provider, and others as applicable.
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment.
