Position Summary

This position serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, translating operational performance into actionable financial insights and supporting strategic decision-making across mining, processing, transportation, and distribution activities.

The Director of Finance is responsible for leading all financial operations and strategies supporting mineral extraction, processing, logistics, and related industrial activities across multiple operating sites in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. This role provides financial leadership, oversight, and business partnership to operational leaders to drive profitability, cost control, capital efficiency, regulatory compliance, and long-term growth.

The Director of Finance oversees accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, operational finance, cost accounting, capital project analysis, and internal controls.

The candidate in this role will partner closely with the CEO, COO, Strategy Director, commercial teams, legal counsel, internal and external auditors, investors, and the Board to ensure the company maintains strong financial performance, disciplined risk management, and scalable financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives and operational growth plans.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership and operational management teams.
  • Lead annual budgeting, long-range planning, forecasting, and financial modeling processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations for strategic initiatives, acquisitions, capital investments, and operational improvements.
  • Assess business risks and develop mitigation plans to protect company assets and profitability.
  • Direct preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Analyze operating results, production costs, margins, and key performance indicators.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop dashboards and performance metrics for extraction, processing, logistics, equipment utilization, and inventory management.
  • Support pricing, contract evaluations, and customer profitability analysis.

Accounting & Compliance

  • Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and financial governance processes.
  • Coordinate audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements across Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico.

Operational Finance & Cost Management

  • Lead cost accounting functions related to mining, processing, transportation, maintenance, and production activities.
  • Monitor and analyze production costs, yield variances, labor costs, fuel consumption, equipment utilization, and logistics expenses.
  • Partner with operations leadership to identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Evaluate operational efficiency and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish financial controls around inventory management, fixed assets, and fleet operations.

Capital Planning & Asset Management

  • Evaluate and monitor capital expenditures, equipment investments, plant expansions, and infrastructure projects.
  • Perform financial analysis, ROI evaluations, and investment justification studies.
  • Track capital project performance against approved budgets.
  • Support asset lifecycle management and capital allocation decisions.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital initiatives.
  • Oversee banking relationships, debt compliance, and treasury operations.
  • Optimize cash management and capital deployment strategies.
  • Monitor inventory, receivables, and payables to improve working capital performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish performance objectives and succession planning initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with operations, human resources, procurement, logistics, and executive leadership teams.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required.
  • MBA, CPA, CMA, or other advanced financial certification preferred.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
  • 5+ years in a senior finance management role within mining, aggregates, minerals, energy, manufacturing, industrial operations, or a related heavy industry environment.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations across multiple states.
  • Strong background in cost accounting, operational finance, budgeting, forecasting, and capital project analysis.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced financial reporting tools.

  • Deep understanding of industrial operations, production economics, and supply chain logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting methodologies and operational KPI development.
  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and financial modeling skills.
  • Proven ability to influence executive and operational leaders.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and business intelligence tools.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

Working Conditions

This role operates in a combination of corporate office (downtown Oklahoma City),

industrial plant, and field environments. Periodic travel to extraction sites, processing

facilities, construction projects, and partner locations across Oklahoma, Texas, and New

Mexico is required with adherence to safety protocols.
