Maintenance Electrician

Title: Maintenance Electrician Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt Company: Host Terminals Reports To: Maintenance Manager Supervises: N/A Position Summary An entry-level maintenance electrician assists in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within industrial facilities such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, refineries, and processing centers. This role is ideal for someone beginning their electrical career, often with trade school training, an apprenticeship, or basic hands‑on experience. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Assist senior electricians within installation, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical systems. Perform basic wiring, conduit bending, cable pulling, and equipment hookups. Support maintenance of motors, transformers, control panels, and switchgear. Help diagnose issues with PLC‑controlled machinery, sensors, and automation equipment. Conduct routine preventive maintenance on electrical components. Follow blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams under supervision. Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment safely. Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA 70E). Document work performed and report equipment issues to supervisors. Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required High school diploma or GED; technical school or apprenticeship enrollment is a plus. Basic understanding of electrical theory, circuits, and industrial equipment. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. Ability to read simple schematics and wiring diagrams. Familiarity with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work in industrial environments (heights, confined spaces, hot/cold conditions). Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work as part of a team. Completion of an electrical training program or pre‑apprenticeship (Preferred). Experience with multimeters, conduit bending, or basic troubleshooting (Preferred). OSHA 10 or 30 certification (Preferred). Forklift or aerial lift certification (Preferred). Physical Requirements Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre‑employment physical and drug test). Must meet physical requirements including walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at protected heights up to 130 feet. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
