LIBRARY ASSOCIATE II- YOUTH SERVICES*

The Orange County Library has an opening for a Library Associate II at the Southern Library in the Youth Services Division. Work involves supporting programming, outreach, and community engagement for an assigned age group at an Orange County Library. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Librarian III or Library Division Supervisor I with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Supervision of others is not required. Performs related work as assigned. The work location is the Southern Library in Carrboro. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a regionally accredited or registered college or university with an associate degree AND one (1) year of work experience related to programming, community engagement, and outreach. Or an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience. Special Requirements Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Background check required through the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and criminal history. Employment cannot commence until cleared. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes day, evening, and weekend hours. Ability to travel. May be required to participate in emergency preparedness and response operations and to fill temporary assignments in roles different from standard duties, work hours, or location.
