Reports To : House Supervisor

Job Type: Full-Time (Exempt)

 

Job Summary :

The Sober Living House Manager oversees multiple sober living homes. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with leadership skills and a passion for helping others struggling with a substance use disorder. The Sober Living House Manager is a full-time professional with the responsibility of managing and coordinating the residences.

Key Responsibilities :

·       Manage the day-to-day operations of the sober living house, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive environment for residents.

·       Ensure that the house remains clean, organized, safe and well-maintained, addressing any maintenance issues promptly.

·       Conduct safety checks to make sure safety equipment is operational- I.E- smoke detectors, fire extinguishers.

·       Enforce house rules and policies related to sobriety, behavior, and general conduct, ensuring consistency.

·       Provide guidance, support, and supervision to residents in their recovery journey.

·       Lead house meetings to foster communication, encourage group participation, and address concerns.

·       Maintain accurate records of residents' progress, incidents, and activities, submitting reports to relevant parties as required.

·       Address resident complaints, conflicts, or issues in a timely and professional manner.

·       Respond to any emergencies or crises involving residents, including relapses, mental health issues, or conflicts, using de-escalation techniques and providing immediate intervention.

·       Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing sober living homes.

·       Foster a sense of community, respect, and accountability within the house.

·       Encourage positive relationships among residents, promoting a supportive network.

·       Plan and execute house events and outings that contribute to the well-being and recovery of the residents.

·       Ensure that all residents remain in compliance with the sober living house's rules, including sobriety requirements and curfews.

·       Administer drug and alcohol tests when necessary to maintain accountability.

  • Initiate the intake and discharge process to ensure appropriate placement and transitions.

·       Daily check in with residents and weekly check ins to discuss recovery plans

 

Core Competencies :

 

1.     Oversee Daily Operations:

o   Manage the day-to-day operations of the sober living house, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive environment for residents.

o   Ensure that the house remains clean, organized, and well-maintained, addressing any maintenance issues promptly.

o   Enforce house rules and policies related to sobriety, behavior, and general conduct, ensuring consistency.

2.     Resident Support and Supervision:

o   Provide guidance, support, and supervision to residents in their recovery journey.

o   Lead house meetings to foster communication, encourage group participation, and address concerns.

o   Offer emotional support and encouragement to residents, facilitating discussions and providing resources as needed.

3.     Communication and Reporting:

o   Maintain accurate records of residents' progress, incidents, and activities, submitting reports to relevant parties as required.

o   Address resident complaints, conflicts, or issues in a timely and professional manner.

4.     Crisis Management:

o   Respond to any emergencies or crises involving residents, including relapses, mental health issues, or conflicts, using de-escalation techniques and providing immediate intervention.

o   Ensure that residents have access to professional counseling or emergency services when needed.

5.     Facilitate Recovery Programs:

o   Organize and coordinate recovery-related activities, such as 12-step meetings, meditation sessions, or group therapy, in partnership with external providers.

o   Help residents identify and connect with community resources, such as outpatient therapy, employment services, and sober social activities.

6.     Promote a Positive Community Environment:

o   Foster a sense of community, respect, and accountability within the house.

o   Encourage positive relationships among residents, promoting a supportive network.

o   Plan and execute house events and outings that contribute to the well-being and recovery of the residents.

o   Provide regular feedback, coaching, and support to staff members to ensure smooth operation and positive outcomes for residents.

7.     Monitor and Maintain Compliance:

o   Ensure that all residents remain in compliance with the sober living house's rules, including sobriety requirements and curfews.

o   Administer drug and alcohol tests when necessary to maintain accountability.

o   Keep up with industry trends and recovery practices to ensure the house is following best practices.

8.     Accountability and Self-Discipline:

o   Strong personal accountability and a role model of sobriety, professionalism, and discipline for residents.

o   Consistent in enforcing rules and ensuring that residents and staff adhere to established expectations.

9.     Continuous Learning and Adaptability:

o   Willingness to stay updated on best practices, new recovery techniques, and changes in industry regulations.

o   Flexibility to adapt to evolving needs of residents and the sober living environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications :

·       High School Diploma, GED, or willingness to obtain GED · Must have 2 or more years of sustained sobriety from a substance use disorder

·       A current and valid unrestricted driver’s license with proof of personal vehicular insurance

·       Willingness to obtain or demonstrate certifications in Basic First Aid, CPF, Mental Health First Aid, and drug testing procedures

·       Requires maintaining a visible presence in the sober living homes, including being present in the residences at various times of the day/night.

·       Knowledge of community resources

  • Able to work 2pm-10pm, including weekends and holidays

 

Work Environment :

·       Travel between the sober living homes is required
