About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years required; will review for 1.5 years with Level I Trauma experience preferred License: NM license can pend at the time of submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (TNCC must be obtained before submission) Must-Have: - 2+ years of Level I Trauma experience preferred - Previous charge experience preferred - Trauma/resuscitation experience preferred Description: Travelers should expect their assignments to primarily include admitted patients. No RQI certifications accepted. Currently experiencing an increased number of admit holds. Medication administration, including IV medication via the seven medication rights, will be required. Document and communicate clinical findings in the Emergency Department. Ratios are 1:5 for patient care. Floating within the scope to meet facility needs may be required, including floating to adult PCUs based on staffing needs. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed. Weekend days constitute Saturday and Sunday; weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department is designated for admitted patients, and many of the ED rooms serve as "ED Holding." Experience with medication administration including IVs, starting and maintaining IVs, and various trauma-related skills is essential. All employees are expected to adhere to bar code medication scanning protocols. Patient populations include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census ranges from 170-200, with an average of 175 visits per day. The facility comprises various interdisciplinary support services. Special procedures and unit information apply and should be reviewed accordingly. All qualifications and requirements must be met prior to application submission.
