Phlebotomist II

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
• Record maintenance data and conduct decontamination procedures.
• Update patient information as necessary.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature protocols.
• Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of experience in a related role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Strong communication skills for patient interactions.

Work Environment

The position is based in NJ and requires working Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. This is a non-float position, ensuring a stable work environment. The role involves working in a lab or hospital setting, where adherence to safety protocols and regulations is crucial.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
