Lead Mechanic – $38–$40/hr

Jeannette, PA | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:00 PM

$38–$40/hr + benefits + 401(k) match + 3 weeks PTO

If you’re a hands-on mechanic who knows how to keep equipment working , this is a chance to take the lead and have a lot of ownership over the shop.

We’re looking for a Lead Mechanic to keep a fleet of backhoes, excavators, tractors, trucks, mowers and other equipment ready to work. You’ll still be turning wrenches every day, but you’ll also take the lead on parts, vendors, outside repairs and keeping the fleet organized.

What You’ll Work On

• CAT 415/416 backhoes
• CAT 304/305 excavators
• Tractors and pulling equipment
• Pickup trucks
• Diesel and gas mowers
• Hydraulic systems, hoses, brakes, electrical, PMs, oil changes and general repairs

The equipment isn't massive heavy iron — most of it is 16,000 lbs and under — but it needs to be reliable and ready to go. Your job is to keep the fleet moving and minimize downtime.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose and repair equipment in the shop and out in the field
• Handle preventative maintenance and keep equipment service-ready
• Order parts and keep the shop organized
• Work with vendors on larger repairs and warranty work
• Coordinate equipment getting to and from outside vendors
• Help prioritize repairs and advise on equipment condition
• Handle occasional emergency breakdowns when something needs to get back up and running

About 30–40% of the job is field work , including local and occasional overnight/out-of-state travel. Travel and hotels are paid, and you'll have a Ford F-450 service truck available for field repairs.

You'll typically be in the shop Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM , with occasional emergency calls when equipment goes down.

What We're Looking For

• Solid diesel, heavy equipment, agricultural or fleet mechanic experience
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Comfortable with hydraulics, brakes, electrical and general mechanical repairs
• Able to work independently and make decisions without being babysat
• Organized enough to handle parts, vendors and multiple repairs
• Comfortable working in the field and traveling periodically
