ORION

Orion is seeking an experienced Superintendent to join our Marine Construction team in Houston, Texas . This position will provide hands‑on field leadership for complex marine and heavy civil construction projects, overseeing self‑perform crews, subcontractors, equipment, scheduling, quality, and day‑to‑day project execution. We are looking for a proven construction leader with experience in marine construction, heavy civil infrastructure, pile driving, ports, wharves, bridges, deep foundations, or similar self‑perform construction environments who can effectively lead crews and drive projects from the field. Safety is at the heart of everything we do. It’s more than a priority—it’s our culture. Every project begins with a commitment to ensuring every employee goes home safely, every day. Our Superintendents play a critical role in that commitment by setting the standard in the field, leading by example, and creating an environment where safety, accountability, teamwork, quality, and operational excellence are part of every decision. Position Summary This position is accountable for providing marine project supervision to job site crews working for Orion. Attends pre‑construction meetings to monitor the project status and obtain a grasp of the job scope and time schedule. Reviews the job schedule and cost breakdown and meets with the Project Manager to gain a complete understanding of potential challenges and problems prior to beginning the job. Maintains good working relationship with the Project Manager, seeking his/her assistance in the scheduling of materials, equipment, and subcontractors. Sets up the job office and equipment trailers if required and ensures that permits, labor notices, safety rules, HR policies, and EEOC materials are posted in a conspicuous place. Works with the Office Manager to identify and recruit qualified applicants for all craft openings that are required to adequately staff the project. Provides input in the hiring, firing, advancement, and promotion of other employees. Communicates with the General Superintendent or Project Manager daily to update him/her on project status. Maintains inventory control over tools and equipment, ensuring that movable tools are returned to the tool room and all other equipment is adequately stored. Troubleshoots and problem‑solves as required on construction issues and problems that arise. Ensures that all change orders are properly executed as directed by the Project Manager or General Superintendent. Meets regularly with General Foremen and/or Foremen to ensure that construction project deadlines are being met and that project work is completed on time. Inspects the project work for quality of workmanship to ensure that Company standards and government regulations are met. Ensures that new employees receive safety training and job‑specific training prior to beginning their field assignments. Updates the Project Manager regularly on estimated percent completion on each phase of the project. Works closely with the General Superintendent, Pile Driving Foreman, Crane Operations Foreman, Crane Operators, Welders, Apprentices, and other skilled and semi‑skilled crafts persons to complete current projects in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
