Summary The Restorative Nursing Aide (RNA) provides residents’ routine restorative nursing care. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Receives specific restorative nursing assignments from DON, or designee, or a discharging therapist. Performs duties as assigned. Performs restorative nursing services in accordance with care plans and facility policies and procedures. These services may include activities related to range of motion, splint/brace assistance, bed mobility, transfers/walking, dressing/grooming, eating/swallowing, amputation/prosthesis care, and communication. Performs tasks to individual residents or as part of small group classes. Coordinates dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set‑up and clean‑up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake. Delivers nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provides assistance as necessary to ensure intake. Documents intake accordingly. Assists with weighing residents according to facility policy, and records weight in designated locations. Reports weight changes to nurse and supervisor. Assists with tracking the condition of splints/braces of residents who require them. Reports lost or broken splints/braces to nurse, central supply, and files grievance for lost or damaged item. Assists nursing staff in carrying out toileting program activities. Additional Tasks Treats all residents with dignity and respect. Promotes and protects all residents’ rights. Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines. Follows appropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and themselves. Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications. Reports noncompliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel. Reports any retaliation or discrimination to HR or compliance officer. Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator. Protects residents from abuse, and cooperates with all investigations. Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy. Participates in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings. Fulfills responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan. Reports work‑related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor. Follows established infection control policies and procedures. As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases. Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Working Environment & Physical Demands This position is required to regularly work on campus. Works in a well‑lit and well‑ventilated facility. May be exposed to confused, belligerent or physically aggressive residents, may be exposed to contagious diseases and mental stress. Subject to frequent interruptions. Manual dexterity, good vision and hearing is required. Must be able to read product labels and distinguish colors. Physical Demands: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling occasionally. Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception in vision: ability to adjust focus.
