RN PACU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the SSSU/PACU setting is responsible for providing skilled nursing care across multiple outpatient service areas including Day Surgery, Endoscopy Lab, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-operative Clinic, and conscious sedation procedures. This role requires expertise in peri-operative nursing, patient assessment, and management of post-anesthesia and post-operative complications. The RN will also participate in a shared on-call rotation and may float to various units as needed. A minimum of two years of experience in SSSU, PACU, Pre-Op, or Post-Op nursing is required, with charge nurse experience preferred. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care in Pre-operative, Post-operative, PACU Phase I and II, Endoscopy, and Infusion areas.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments including peri-operative education and patient care.
• Monitor and recognize post-anesthesia and post-operative complications.
• Float as needed to support Day Surgery, Endoscopy Lab, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Pre-operative Clinic, and conscious sedation procedures.
• Participate in shared on-call rotation for PACU coverage.
• Assist with patient preparation and recovery related to surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care and safety.
• Perform charge nurse duties when assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two years experience in SSSU, PACU, Pre-Op, or Post-Op nursing.
• Strong clinical skills in peri-operative nursing, patient assessment, and post-anesthesia care.
• Ability to recognize and manage post-operative complications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Charge nurse experience.
• Experience with conscious sedation and infusion nursing.
• Advanced certifications related to perioperative nursing or PACU care.

Special Considerations:

• Shared on-call rotation for PACU duties.
• Floating to various outpatient service areas as needed.
• Work involves fast-paced, dynamic clinical environments including surgical and procedural areas.

Scheduling:

• Four 10-hour shifts per week with variable scheduling.
• Shift schedule is subject to change based on unit needs and on-call rotation.
