Advanced Customer Engineer - Critical Account Team

Job Overview Hewlett Packard Enterprise seeks senior level Advanced Customer Engineering (ACE) engineers to work with our largest and most important customers. The position will be primarily responsible for working with our Critical Account Program customers, acting as the senior technical resource and providing case oversight, facilitating software engineering needs for defects, and delivering remote or on‑site “fly‑and‑fix” support when customers experience issues that our support team cannot resolve remotely. The ACE team is a respected, senior‑level engineering unit. Many team members have 15‑20 years of industry experience and provide technical expertise while also communicating effectively with company IT executives and front‑line engineering staff. Responsibilities Act as the senior technical resource for Critical Account Program customers. Identify sub‑optimal designs and/or misconfigurations and consult on corrective actions. Work with engineering escalation teams and customers, remotely or onsite, to troubleshoot software or hardware defects. Build strong customer relationships and become a trusted advisor. Build relationships across the wider internal organization to accelerate problem resolution. Collaborate closely with teammates; frequent communication leads to better outcomes. Travel 10–40% of the time, with travel schedule managed by the engineer. Position is open across the US; proximity to a major airport is sufficient. Education & Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, or a related engineering field. Typically 10+ years of relevant experience. Knowledge & Skills A deep understanding of one or more of the following areas of enterprise networking: Modern data center network design, implementation, and troubleshooting, including DNS, DHCP, spanning tree, network access control, 802.1X, BGP, OSPF, ISIS, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS. Optical solutions such as 100G, 400G, 800G, AOC, DAC, and current industry protocols. Security solutions: IPSec, SSL/TLS, Public Key Infrastructure, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, and their integration in data center and wide‑area environments. Using, evaluating, and developing engineering design tools and software packages. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Conducting reviews of customer configurations and quickly identifying issues. Strong history of troubleshooting with customers in current or prior roles. Vendor and/or industry certifications are a plus but not required. Demonstrated ability to acquire additional skillsets outside comfort zones. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language; ability to communicate with engineers and executives. Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a larger team. Adaptable, flexible, and positive attitude in a fast‑growing organization.
