Sanitation AssociateThe Sanitation Associate maintains a clean, safe, and compliant production facility by performing routine and scheduled sanitation, janitorial, and housekeeping duties across all areas of the site. This role supports food production operations by following Good Manufacturing Practices, adhering to sanitation schedules, and accurately maintaining sanitation records. The position requires a bilingual professional in English and Spanish who can communicate effectively, work safely in a fast-paced environment, and provide support to leads and team members in other departments.ResponsibilitiesFollow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times to ensure a safe and compliant food production environment.Work safely by following all safety procedures and immediately reporting any unsafe conditions, near-misses, or injuries.Notify the quality assurance team or designated contact of any equipment or facility damage, malfunctions, or repair needs.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the entire facility, including production areas, warehouse, offices, restrooms, break rooms, and loading docks/bays.Perform janitorial and cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, wiping, and sanitizing surfaces and equipment in accordance with sanitation standards.Conduct weekly inventory checks of sanitation chemicals and cleaning supplies and ensure adequate stock is available.Create and submit work orders for equipment or facility repairs as needed.Follow established sanitation schedules to perform routine and deep cleaning of the facility and equipment.Keep sanitation records accurate, complete, and up to date in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.Use cleaning and sanitation chemicals safely by following label directions, safety data sheets, and company guidelines.Perform basic math to measure, mix, and use chemicals and supplies correctly.Read and interpret written instructions, policies, schedules, and safety information, and ensure they are followed.Communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, leads, and other departments in both English and Spanish.Communicate and implement company policies and procedures related to sanitation, safety, and production support.Provide support to leads and team members in other departments as needed to maintain cleanliness and support production operations.Work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.Adhere to assigned shift hours, typically 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and complete all assigned tasks within those timeframes.Essential SkillsBilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in both languages.Experience performing janitorial, sanitation, or cleaning duties in a production, manufacturing, or food industry environment.Ability to consistently follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a food production setting.Ability to perform basic math to measure, mix, and manage chemicals and supplies.Ability to read and write well to understand and follow written instructions, policies, and sanitation schedules.Strong verbal communication skills to work effectively with team members and other departments.Capability to work safely and identify, report, and help address unsafe conditions.Physical ability to move around the facility floor for extended periods.Ability to remain in a stationary position when tasks require standing or sitting for extended periods.Ability to infrequently ascend and descend stairs or ladders as required by specific tasks.Ability to frequently position self (bending, kneeling, reaching, or crouching) to complete cleaning and sanitation tasks.Ability to measure, hold, operate, and position items while constantly adjusting body posture to complete tasks.Ability to occasionally move up to 75 lbs and more frequently transport 50 lbs or less.Ability to move pallets requiring the ability to move loads up to approximately 1000 lbs using appropriate equipment.Ability to detect and distinguish sounds and to identify and perceive colors, as required for safe operation and quality checks.Ability to perform job duties effectively in a fast-paced production environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience in a food production, chocolate, or broader food manufacturing environment.Familiarity with production environments and working closely with production workers.Experience using sanitation chemicals and cleaning equipment safely in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.Comfort working with structured sanitation schedules and maintaining detailed records.Ability to support cross-functional teams and assist other departments as operational needs arise.Why Work Here?This role offers the opportunity to be a trusted, central part of a production operation where your work directly supports product quality, safety, and team success. Work is fast-paced and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as occasional use of stairs or ladders. You will handle cleaning chemicals and supplies, follow Good Manufacturing Practices, and operate within a food production setting that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berkeley, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
