Imaging Director Overview The Imaging Director oversees radiology and diagnostic imaging services, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient-centered care. Collaborates with hospital leadership, radiologists, and staff to maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Develops and implements departmental goals, policies, and workflows aligned with organizational objectives. Provides strategic direction for imaging modalities, including X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Mammography. Ensures departmental readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation reviews. Manages departmental budgets, monitors expenses, and identifies opportunities for operational efficiencies. Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, patient safety, and service excellence. Evaluates equipment needs and oversees imaging technology acquisition and maintenance. Represents Radiology/Imaging Services in hospital committees and interdisciplinary initiatives. Imaging Director Key Responsibilities & Duties Provides leadership for all Radiology/Imaging services, ensuring safe and efficient operations. Develops departmental policies, procedures, and performance standards to meet organizational goals. Manages staffing plans, productivity, scheduling, and workload to ensure adequate departmental coverage. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation requirements. Oversees quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives. Collaborates with IT and clinical teams on imaging technology optimization. Monitors key performance indicators, including turnaround times, patient volumes, and quality outcomes. Develops and manages operating and capital budgets for imaging services. Investigates operational and clinical concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed. Imaging Director Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging. Director-level or multi-modality imaging leadership experience strongly preferred. Current ARRT certification in an applicable imaging modality required; additional certifications are a plus. Demonstrated experience managing departmental operations, staffing, budgets, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of imaging technology, PACS, RIS, and workflow optimization. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and service excellence.
