We are seeking a reliable and hardworking HVAC Maintenance Helper to support the City of Brownsville for a temporary 4-week assignment. The HVAC Maintenance Helper will travel with a HVAC Technician to various City buildings and service locations, assisting with general maintenance and HVAC-related service activities.

No prior HVAC experience is required. Candidates with general maintenance, construction, mechanical, or hands-on labor experience are preferred. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining exposure to HVAC maintenance and learning from an experienced technician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Travel with a HVAC Technician to service calls at City buildings and facilities.
• Assist the HVAC Technician with general service and maintenance tasks.
• Retrieve, carry, and hand tools, equipment, and materials to the technician as needed.
• Assist with moving and positioning materials and equipment.
• Help maintain a clean and organized work area at service locations.
• Assist with basic maintenance and labor tasks as directed by the HVAC Technician.
• Load, unload, and transport tools and materials needed for service calls.
• Follow all safety procedures and instructions provided by the City HVAC Technician and personnel.
• Work outdoors and in various weather conditions as required.
• Perform other general assistance duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• No previous HVAC experience required.
• Previous general maintenance, construction, mechanical, or hands-on labor experience preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Reliable transportation to the designated reporting location.
• Must be comfortable traveling to various buildings and service locations with a HVAC Technician.
• Must be able to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use basic hand tools is preferred but not required.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely assist with handling tools, equipment, and materials.
