Description:
The position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in labor and delivery.
The unit has 12 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum rooms.
There are 2 triage rooms available.
The average number of births is approximately 700 deliveries per year.
The nurse-to-patient ratio follows AWHONN guidelines of 1:1 during labor and 1:3 for couplet care.
Common patient diagnoses include labor (both vaginal and cesarean), postpartum care, and nursery newborn care (level II nursery).
The Registered Nurse will work alongside OB techs and unit secretaries, with one of each available on day shifts and an OB tech on night shifts.
A neonatology provider is present in-house 24/7.
The Registered Nurse will assist with troubleshooting CPAP in the level II nursery, with respiratory therapy assistance for setup.
The electronic fetal monitoring system utilized is the Obix EFM system with Phillips monitors.
Shifts are 12 hours long, from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Every other weekend is required, including Saturdays and Sundays for day shifts and Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shifts.
Every other holiday is mandatory, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
The Registered Nurse may be required to float hospital-wide as needed.
The dress code is hospital-provided scrubs.
Unit-specific orientation typically lasts 2-3 shifts depending on experience.
Charting is done using the EPIC system.
This position does not require a BSN or floating out of specialty.
The care setting is acute with a trauma level of 2.
The role will engage with a tasking and team nursing model during patient care.
