Director of Finance And Accounting

The Director of Finance leads the day-to-day financial operations of Global Outreach International (GOI), ensuring accurate and timely accounting, payroll, payments, missionary finances, reporting, controls, and compliance. The role leads the Finance team and turns the COO/Integrator’s financial direction into consistent execution, reliable information, clear priorities, and strong processes. This role is based out of Tupelo, Mississippi. The COO/Integrator retains primary ownership of the annual budget, annual audit and Form 990, Board-level financial reporting, and major financial decisions. Core Accountabilities Finance Operations – Oversee accounting, payroll, accounts payable, reimbursements, missionary payments, and recurring Finance deadlines. Monthly Close and Reporting – Manage the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial reports and analysis. Finance Team Leadership – Lead, coach, and hold the Finance team accountable for priorities, workload, and results. Missionary Finance and Compliance – Oversee missionary financial administration, controls, documentation, and policy compliance. Finance Systems and Processes – Maintain reliable financial data, documented processes, cross-training, and continuous improvement. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations and Reporting Oversee general accounting, month-end and year-end close, payroll, accounts payable, reimbursements, missionary payments, and related records. Prepare monthly financial statements, dashboards, reconciliations, and supporting analysis for the COO/Integrator. Monitor cash, restricted funds, missionary accounts, and significant variances; identify and elevate risks or exceptions promptly. Support budgeting and forecasting by preparing schedules, gathering information, monitoring results, and explaining variances. Prepare and send annual donor giving statements and coordinate related donor financial communications. Compliance, Controls, and Audit Maintain effective accounting practices, internal controls, and documentation consistent with GAAP, nonprofit requirements, IRS rules, ECFA standards, and applicable laws. Prepare audit schedules and documentation and coordinate Finance-team responses under the direction of the COO/Integrator. Maintain Finance policies and procedures and provide appropriate training to staff and missionaries. Monitor relevant accounting and regulatory changes and recommend needed process, policy, or system improvements. Missionary Finance and Systems Oversee missionary support accounts, salary and ministry-expense disbursements, budget amendments, and financial compliance matters. Ensure accurate data and effective use of Financial Edge, Virtuous, payroll, banking, and related systems. Coordinate financial system improvements and integrations with Operations, vendors, and external partners. Provide clear, service-oriented financial guidance and training to missionaries and Home Office teams. Team Leadership and EOS Execution Lead regular Finance operational meetings and maintain relevant scorecards, Issues Lists, To-Dos, and Rocks. Translate organizational priorities into clear weekly work plans, measurable outcomes, and individual accountabilities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
