Position Overview

A growing manufacturing company in Wallingford, CT is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Sales Assistant to support the sales team with administrative, customer service, and order management functions. The Sales Assistant will play a key role in maintaining client relationships, processing orders, coordinating with internal departments, and ensuring a smooth sales process from inquiry through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the sales team and sales management.
• Process customer orders, quotes, and sales documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain customer records and sales data within CRM and ERP systems.
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, order status, and delivery timelines.
• Coordinate with production, purchasing, shipping, and customer service teams to ensure timely order fulfillment.
• Prepare sales reports, presentations, and correspondence.
• Track open orders and proactively communicate updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with inventory availability checks and product information requests.
• Schedule meetings, manage calendars, and coordinate customer visits when needed.
• Support special projects and other administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 2+ years of sales support, customer service, or administrative experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environment preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience working with CRM and ERP systems is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting outside sales representatives.
• Knowledge of order processing and customer account management.
• Ability to analyze sales data and generate reports.
• Strong follow-up and customer relationship management skills.
