Police Officer

Under general supervision, performs general duty police work involving a wide range of duties performed to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, and preserve order within the community. May be assigned to specialized duties at the discretion of management. Based on the duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description, this position is considered safety sensitive.

Essential job functions include inspecting the assigned patrol vehicle, operating the patrol vehicle, patrolling assigned areas, directing traffic, enforcing laws, investigating accidents, securing crime scenes, maintaining equipment, and communicating effectively with the public and other officers.

Minimum qualifications required include a high school diploma or GED, a state certified police officer license, a valid state driver's license, and an age between 21 and 45 years.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, criminal prosecution procedures, first aid, departmental policies, crime scene processing, crime prevention, defensive tactics, arrest techniques, and modern police administration methods is necessary.
