Interim Academic Program Coordinator III - Criminal Justice (13 hours per week)

SCOPE OF WORK: Provides administrative oversight and coordination of the Criminal Justice Program by assisting the Vice President of Academic and Workforce Education in the development, implementation, evaluation, and advancement of course curriculum and programs, teaching effectiveness, student advisement, academic support systems, and program promotion. This position reports to the Vice-President of Academic and Workforce Education at NHTI. This is a part-time non-exempt position with a 13-hour work week.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assists the Vice President of Academic and Workforce Education with faculty recruitment, orientation, assignment, and evaluation of department faculty and staff.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates curricula; maintains program/course documents, and revises as needed in a timely manner. Reviews and coordinates textbook selection.
• Assists in the preparation of faculty teaching assignments and course schedules.
• Participates in student recruitment activities, registration, and academic advising, including review of student academic progress.
• Mentors novice and adjunct faculty and recommends professional development and training plans as needed.
• Monitors graduates for the purpose of compiling placement statistics.
• Communicates and works with other academic and non-academic departments on issues of mutual concern, including general academic issues, library purchases, registration, and placement activities.
• Participates in meetings and activities of Academic Leadership Council.
• Coordinates the procurement process for materials, supplies and equipment.
• Serves on department, college, and system committees and teams as required and liaises with the professional community.
• Demonstrates professional leadership by participating in non-teaching activities for the benefit and recognition of the College.
• Complies with College, System. State and Federal rules and regulations including but not limited to health and safety policies, State of New Hampshire Sexual Harassment Policy, and civil rights laws.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in criminal justice, law, counseling, political science, business or public administration or education. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years’ professional experience in the field of Criminal Justice with responsibilities in program research planning, monitoring/supervision and evaluation.

License/Certification: Valid drivers' license or access to transportation.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of effective teaching methods, instructional practices, curriculum development, and the use of instructional materials within technology or other specialized programs. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, tools, and equipment relevant to the disciplines being taught. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality instruction and organize subject matter into effective, engaging learning experiences. Ability to provide leadership and oversight to professional instructional staff and to collaborate in the development and implementation of college programs, policies, and procedures. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and external business and community partners. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new programs, strengthen existing programs, gain support for departmental initiatives, and foster collaborative and positive working relationships within the department and across the College.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and requirements related to the assigned program area. Thorough knowledge of current principles, practices, trends, and developments within the assigned area. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, including the ability to prepare and communicate technical and program-related information to a variety of audiences. Ability to deliver presentations and represent the College effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to evaluate and analyze program effectiveness, outcomes, and resource utilization and to identify opportunities for improvement. Ability to develop, recommend, and implement new programs, initiatives, and approaches in response to organizational and program needs.

Ability to effectively supervise, support, and provide direction to assigned staff. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with college employees, federal and state agencies, public officials, community partners, and other stakeholders.
