Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Med-Surg

Location

Tacoma, WA | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across a Med/Surg and Telemetry division encompassing multiple specialty units, including surgical, neuro, ortho/spine, cardiac, oncology, and general medical floors
• Manage a patient assignment of 4–5 patients per shift, with telemetry monitoring supported by remote telemetry techs; RNs are responsible for verifying strip readings
• Titrate drips per Med/Surg guidelines, including insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, dobutamine, dopamine, and Cardizem, transferring to critical care when parameters are exceeded
• Manage patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, and trach care; ventilator patients are not assigned to this unit
• Float as needed across all Med/Surg and Telemetry units within the division, as well as to alternate regional facilities, with a rate differential applied for off-site float assignments
• Fulfill weekend (every other), holiday (1–2 winter holidays), and on-call/standby requirements (up to 4 times during contract duration)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state of Washington (or compact eligibility)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience
• Ability and willingness to float across all Med/Surg and Telemetry units within the division and to alternate regional facilities as needed
• Candidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Familiarity with drip titration protocols in a Med/Surg setting
• Experience caring for diverse patient populations including surgical, neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and oncology patients
• Comfort working in a high-float, multi-unit environment
