Registered Nurse - NICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to neonatal patients in the NICU, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice and patient safety. Collaborates with the healthcare team to promote positive outcomes for fragile, high-risk infants.

Responsibilities:

• Assess neonatal patients' conditions through thorough and systematic evaluations.
• Deliver competent direct patient care support within the neonatal ICU setting.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of patient care, progress, and education.
• Demonstrate professionalism by adhering to policies, procedures, and ongoing learning opportunities.
• Promote patient and family satisfaction by delivering courteous, compassionate care while maintaining confidentiality.
• Follow safety protocols, including universal patient safety measures, proper handling, and transfer techniques.
• Individualize care plans based on diagnoses, surgical procedures, and anesthesia types.
• Assume responsibility and accountability in directing patient care based on needs and condition changes.
• Perform pre- and post-operative assessments and educate patients and families about procedures.
• Support timely completion of patient testing and review of Pre-Admission Testing orders for appropriateness.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant pediatric or neonatal nursing experience.
• Valid RN license.
• BLS certification required; NRP and RNC-NIC certifications preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with an Associates or Bachelor's Degree.
• Demonstrates knowledge of neonatal assessments, equipment, and emergency procedures.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
