Day Camp Healthcare Manager (RN)

$1,400 - $1,500 per week

Outdoor Lab

Outdoor Lab is a two‑week day camp for kids ages 6-13 that blends classic summer camp fun with hands‑on STEAM activities in an outdoor environment. Our program emphasizes connection and belonging, healthy competition, and character strengths like confidence, creativity and respect. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of creative and connected stewards through the joy of outdoor play and hands‑on projects. We are committed to creating a camp community where every member feels safe, respected and valued. The Outdoor Lab Healthcare Manager We are looking for a leadership position responsible for overseeing the health and safety of Outdoor Lab campers and staff. The Healthcare Manager contributes to Outdoor Lab’s camper and staff outcomes and plays a primary role in achieving goals for an outstanding experience. Safety, security and wellbeing for campers and staff at all times Lasting trust , partnership, and relationships with campers, families and staff. Essential Job Functions Provide healthcare to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers Provide first aid, permitted treatments, and follow‑up monitoring. Determine when a camp member should be removed from activities or sent home. Follow healthcare policies/procedures as described in the Outdoor Lab Healthcare Plan and treatment procedures. Initiate emergency procedures, including contacting EMS, when needed. Organize, maintain, and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of campers and staff Set up the camp Health Center. Inventory and maintain all necessary medical supplies and equipment. Oversee development and implementation of the Outdoor Lab Healthcare Plan. Ensure compliance with American Camp Association (ACA) standards and applicable state/local health regulations. Maintain accurate and detailed systems for medication management, health record retention, and care documentation according to state and ACA Standards Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file. Maintain documentation of all care provided, including medication logs and incident reports. Prepare and utilize daily medical logs for treatment and medications. Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms. Oversee First Aid procedures and supplies Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout camp including camp offices, activity areas. Ensure supplies are well stocked and distributed as needed. Ensure proper training of all staff in first aid, emergency procedures, and health guidelines Ensure camp staff know their role related to healthcare and first aid, consistent with camp Healthcare and Operating policies. Provide or ensure orientation is provided that addresses first aid, health center procedures, emergency procedures, accident prevention and risk management, staff health assessments of campers, policies on contacting parents, and any specific camper health and social needs. Screen all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp Review individual health forms and individualized plans before camp attendance. Verify health history, examination, and emergency authorization. Identify any observable evidence of illness or communicable diseases. Keep all medications used by campers and staff. Administer approved medications to campers and minor‑age staff as needed, consistent with parent and physician instructions. Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp Observe daily cleanliness in the food service facility and other areas throughout camp. Report any health problems or symptoms of illness to the camp Site Director. Other Job Duties Be responsible for contacting parents concerning the status of their child’s health by telephone or email, consistent with camp Health Plan and policies. Be knowledgeable of outside health resources. Provide leadership in the camp’s risk management program. Perform any tasks beyond those assigned as help is needed. Compensation & Hours Pay range: $1400 - $1500 per week (depending on experience). Typical Hours: Weekdays 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM when camp is in session. (June 15 – August 7, 2026) Mandatory Training: Attend at least 2 days of in‑person training (week of June 8), complete online modules, and attend weekly Tuesday evening staff programming. Minimum Qualifications Registered nurse (RN) or other licensed medical professional with a license as required by CA law. Current CPR and first aid certification. Experience in first aid and emergency management. Experience in both children and adult illness/injury care. Desire to work with children and young adults. Community health knowledge. A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance are preferred. Physical Aspects of the Job Read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters. Communicate with parents, staff, and administration about camper health concerns. Observe and assess sanitation and safety conditions of the camp. Must be available and able to work on‑site during camp hours. Ability to respond appropriately to emergency and first aid situations, including ability to assist / lift campers and staff and with strength and endurance required. #J-18808-Ljbffr Outdoor Lab
