Financial Reporting Accountant

Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated accounting professional to join our finance and accounting team as an Accountant – Financial Reporting. In this role, you will support the preparation of the Company’s consolidated and separate-company financial statements and assist with the Company’s quarterly and annual reporting processes. This position offers meaningful exposure to public-company reporting, including SEC filings, U.S. GAAP financial statements, footnote disclosures, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. This role is designed for a candidate who is ready to build a career in financial reporting and technical accounting. It is particularly well-suited for candidates coming from public accounting, including Big 4 or other national firms, who are looking to transition into an in-house reporting role with direct exposure to Form 10-Qs, Form 10-Ks, MD&A, and the external audit process. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Form 10-Q and Form 10-K. Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial statement footnotes, disclosures, and supplemental schedules. Support the preparation of management’s discussion and analysis (MD&A), earnings release materials, and other external reporting deliverables. Assist in the preparation of consolidated U.S. GAAP financial statements and supporting schedules. Support the preparation of GAAP and statutory financial statements for the Company’s insurance subsidiaries. Assist with quarter-end and year-end close activities related to financial reporting. Prepare documentation supporting compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls and financial reporting processes. Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, and investor relations, to gather information required for financial reporting. Support the external audit process, including responding to auditor requests and preparing audit support. Stay current on changes in reporting standards and assist with implementation of new U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. Provide support on ad‑hoc technical accounting and financial reporting projects, as needed. Qualifications BS/BA in Accounting. Approximately 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting, external reporting, or financial reporting. Experience preparing or auditing financial statements, footnotes, and related supporting schedules preferred. Exposure to U.S. GAAP and financial reporting processes. Public‑company and SEC reporting exposure preferred. Experience with SEC reporting software, preferably Workiva, is a plus. CPA or progress toward CPA preferred, but not required. Insurance industry experience is helpful, but not required. Detail‑oriented with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
