Details Float pool position covering all ICUs, PCU/ACCs, CCUs, and ED holding within the facility Possible floating to a second hospital campus approximately 2.5 miles away, with advance notice 12-hour night shift schedule, 48 hours per week Schedule created in 3-week blocks, released 7-10 days in advance Every other weekend required, with occasional back-to-back weekends No self-scheduling and no guaranteed patterned schedule ICU patient ratio of 1:2; PCU/ACC/CCU ratio of 1:4; ED holding ratios based on patient acuity Cares for COVID, neuro, trauma, medical, and surgical patients including sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, multi-system failure, strokes, TBI, and post-cath patients CVICU patient types include post-op CABG, esophagectomy, TAVR, AAA repair, and thoracic/vascular surgery patients Not expected to care for fresh CABG/TAVR, EVDs, post-TPA, or patients on ECMO, IABP, Impella, or hypothermia protocol Uses Epic EMR Requirements Active WA or compact RN license required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required Epic charting experience required Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and BiPAP management, invasive line management, ostomy and general drain care, trach and chest tube management, lumbar drains, and IV medication titration Must complete and pass a telemetry competency exam prior to start Additional Information Supported by charge nurse, hospitalist, respiratory therapist, and intensivist 24/7, with cardiologist on call for CVICU, CCU, and Cardiac Short Stay Orientation includes 1 day of general hospital orientation, 1 day (12 hours) of unit orientation, and 1 day (12 hours) on like units Responsibilities include maintaining whiteboards, hourly rounding with documentation, and bedside report Saline flushes are treated as medication and must not be left at bedside or in scrub pockets Two-nurse verification required when wasting narcotics or benzodiazepines Pain must be documented before and after administering pain medication (30 minutes for IV, 1 hour for oral) Scrubs may be any professional color Free parking available in designated areas First-time travelers considered if they have strong ICU and previous float pool experience Time off requests beyond 5 days require manager approval American Traveler Job ID P-771733.
