PRN Registered NurseHuntsville, AL 35802OverviewLevel: Experienced Position Type: PRN (As Needed) Education Level: Nurse License Travel Percentage: None Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesRegistered Nurse - PRN (Any Location)The Registered Nurse provides specialized care to individuals experiencing mental health conditions and substance use disorder by working to assess, treat, and support clients in various settings. Responsibilities include working with a treatment team to develop individualized client care plans, administering medications, therapeutic intervention, and advocating for client needs. The RN also connects clients with resources and support services for their continued recovery. Those hired in this role will be required to report to at least four (4) shifts per month to maintain employment. You can be scheduled to work at any location at WellStone location.What you'll be doing:Adheres to the Center's philosophy of care, professional ethics and other standards of policies and proceduresUtilize the nursing process in assessing, planning, evaluating and providing care to clientsAdminister stat IM or P.O. medicationsEnter documentation into our Electronic Medical Records SystemInterface with local laboratories to process ordering/requisitioning lab tests (per psychiatrist) or obtaining results from testsObtain and record vital signs, i.e. orthostatic blood pressure, weight, height, pulse rate and rhythmPerform crisis intervention as neededIn lieu of psychiatrist's absence, conduct assessments of client's mental status to include homicidal/suicidal ideation, appearance/grooming, affect, mood, energy level, rate/pitch of speech, perceptual disturbances, and physical status.Medication monitoring to include assessing the effectiveness of given medications, changes in symptoms since last visit, inquire about over the counter medications, observation of possible side effects and document in client electronic chartConduct as requested by the Division Director and /or Medical Director- medication monitoring groupsEducate client and family on medication, possible interactions and side effects in addition to the importance of taking the medicationMaintain and monitor medication samplesComplete client documentation per Center and State policies/procedures and standards in a timely mannerEvaluate and assess Center medical emergenciesCollaborate with Center staff regarding client wellbeing, and work with outside agencies as requestedOther nursing duties as assigned by the Division Director and /or Medical Director.Maintain a list of clients scheduled for injectionsMaintain accurate records of scheduled injectionsEnsure client has a current prescription for scheduled injection/medicationAdminister the injections to client as prescribedRecord injection on medication record in client chartSchedule next injection appointment and give the client the appointment cardComply with regulations when administering I.M. medicationsMaintain licensure in the State of AlabamaComplete and maintain documentation in a timely mannerAttend staff meetingsComplete other duties as assigned.This job description is only a summary of the typical functions of the job and is not designed to be an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible duties, tasks, or responsibilities that are required of the employee as they may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.QualificationsWhat we're looking for:Valid AL Nursing LicenseMinimum of two years mental health experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProficient computer knowledge and documentation skillsExcellent organizational & planning skills includingCPR and SAMA trained (or ability to obtain)We are compassionate towards those impacted by behavioral health disorders.We are dedicated to one another through collaboration and teamwork.We are optimistic problem-solvers who do what it takes to get the job done.
