Individuals who have the confidence to lead but the humility to never stop learning.Could this be you?This position as a medical lab technician/technologist will verify patient identification and produce reliable and accurate test results using aseptic technique, universal precautions, and accepted procedures of infection control.Duties may include:Responsible for performing all waived and moderately complex tests as defined by CLIA ’88 in an accurate and timely manner including Chemistry, Hematology, STD testing, etc.Perform and submit proficiency surveysResponsible for quality control, quality assessment and associated corrective actions according to policy/procedureEnsures operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; arranging for repairsMaintain laboratory supplies inventoryPrepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing informationInteracts with Village Medical personnel, physicians and patients as to orders coming into the laboratory and/or reporting results (including critical values) according to the policies and procedures of Village Medical while maintaining inter departmental work flow and contributing to team effortOther duties as assigned by practice leaders.In addition, this person must maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by following laboratory standards and procedures while complying with legal regulations of OSHA, HIPPA, CLIA and the Texas Department of State Health Services.Skills for success:Self-motivated: energetic, self-starter; can work autonomously with limited direction.Results oriented: bias for action; demonstrated track record of achievement; drive for attainment of superior outcomes.Navigates within ambiguity; solution-oriented.Communication: conveys thoughts and expresses ideas effectively both verbally and in writing; strong presentation skills.Collaboration: orientation to team-based work product and results.Service: Actively supports others, demonstrates an optimistic, can-do approach to issue resolution.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasksAble to work in a fast-paced environment to meet established turnaround timesIntermediate computer, typing and 10 key skillsMust be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailGrowth position with possibility of supervisory/lead duties.Be able to work SaturdaysExperience to drive change:Associate Degree (MLT) or Bachelor degree (MT/MLS)United States Certification – ASCP, AMT, HHS, OR approved equivalent preferred.Experience with LIS and EMR is a plusAbout Our CommitmentTotal Rewards at VillageMDOur team members are essential to our mission to reshape healthcare through the power of connection.
