Process Development & Automation Engineer II (SCADA Engineer)

Abbott seeks a Process Development & Automation Engineer II to provide technical support for laboratory automation systems, SCADA platforms, and data integration solutions. The role involves implementing and maintaining PLC-based systems, configuring AVEVA software, and driving continuous improvement across clinical laboratory automation environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for AVEVA implementation, expansion, and sustainment across automation systems
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC-based data collection and integration solutions
• Configure, validate, and support AVEVA, Historian, Insight, and associated reporting systems
• Design and implement automation data structures, tags, state models, downtime tracking, and KPI reporting
• Support commissioning, SAT, go-live, and lifecycle management of new automation systems

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 3+ years relevant industry experience, or Associate's degree with 5+ years experience
• 3+ years building automation systems and 2+ years developing and commissioning automated systems
• Advanced knowledge of engineering theories, practices, and procedures
• Experience with middleware devices, PC knowledge, networking and interface protocols
• Experience integrating databases with automated systems
• Rockwell PLC programming (Studio 5000) preferred
• AVEVA/Wonderware, Ignition, Historian, Insight, or SCADA experience preferred

Compensation: $61,300.00 – $122,700.00 base
