Staff Accountant

Location: Nashville, TN Metropolitan Area

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Compensation: $30-35/hour

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join a growing team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and various accounting projects.

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare journal entries and maintain appropriate supporting documentation
• Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
• Assist with payment processing, deposits, credit card activity, and vendor inquiries
• Prepare routine financial reports and assist with variance analysis
• Support audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records
• Partner with internal teams to research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures
• Assist with other accounting projects and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with an ERP or accounting system; experience with systems such as NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments
